Pros: Fine if you don't need them. Customer service is not accurate.
Cons: Deceptive practice - not canceling just transferring you and increasing rate by 45%
The Bottom Line: I will never use USAA. No confidence when I really need them. They change internal policies and I suffer. They are great at taking your money.

| mdemma's Full Review: USAA Group - Auto |
After many years with USAA I received a notice from them that I was being transferred to some another USAA insurance company and that my rates would go up by 47%. I had not had an accident in two years. They claimed this was not a cancellation. Their internal policies were being changed to lower their risk. Facts: I had six sons and a spouse covered, was paying $7000 per year in rates. I had a very low claims rate. According to USAA because I had three claims that were aged within the three years I was now considered A high risk. All claims totaled less than $2000 with one being $1100. The most recent claim was one year old. The oldest was 2.5 years old. USAA claimed they were dropping clients with more than one incident. As an aside two of the less expensive claims I did not want to make but their agent talked me in to it stating it would never impact my policy and that is why I have insurance. "let us take care of this" was the statement. USAA's response to that is that their telephone personnel are no longer allowed to say that. Well thanks for the notice. As an officer in the military I feel betrayed by an organization who claims honor as one of it's values. My "non-cancellation", ridiculous rate increase, sent me scurrying for insurance and I was able to find it with GEICO for very close to the original rates with USAA.
