| ralwine's Full Review: USAA Group - Auto |
I have been a member of USAA since 1982. I've had just one claim, and it was handled with supreme perfection. They didn't even raise my rates.
Their membership is limited to those in or closely-related to someone military. That keeps rates down, since (normally) service members are pretty responsible folks. I've not found better rates for my auto policy, except for the time I got a few speeding tickets, and they are strict. I couldn't wait to return to the fold.
Their handling of my single claim was flawless. I was in Italy at the time, and they even had a local representative there (they have few local agents, however)! Marisa had an adjuster look at my damaged car that very day, and they paid the shop directly. Additionally, they kept my rates the same as B.A. (before accident).
They have 24-hour service, to which I've never had problems getting through, even just to make policy changes. The customer service representatives are polite and surprisingly knowledgeable. Occasionally, they even exhibit a wicked sense of humor, which I enjoy.
I can't promise everyone the unsurpassed experience I've had with USAA, but I heartily recommend them to anyone eligible. I wouldn't trade them!
