In 1996 I had just gotten out of high school, and didn't really know to much about the real world, and certainly not insurance. I had just purchased my first car, and without knowing any better I went with a second hand, fly-by night insurance company. My thinking was that all insurance companies were equal. Boy was i wrong. I started out having all kinds of problems. My insurance rate was different from month to month, I couldn't ever get the company to respond to my calls, and just many other very unenjoyable experiences. That's when I went to my mother and she told me about USAA. She called them for me because she already had services with them. I got on the phone and gave all my information and it was the smoothest process I had ever had dealing with an insurance company. That was in 1996, this is 200 almost 2001 and I am still a USAA member. They have very low rates, very friendly representatives, and you can ALWAYS get in touch with someone. Just recently,( the first week in February) my car was in an accident. The part that scared me was that I wasn't even the driver. One of my "friends" took it upon himself to take my car for a spin and he wrecked it. I just knew they were going to tell me that they couldn't cover me, because I had heard these types of stories from people who had other types of insurance. When I called them and explained the situation, they were very understanding and I got my car fixed with no hassle. I can't see myself leaving USAA any time soon, If at all.
