"Honey, I got hit!", these are the words I heard my husband say to me a little over a year ago. I was scared to death. He was fine but our car was not. The car had been hit from behind and the bumper and one brake light were badly damaged. A drunk driver had hit him and ran.
When I called USAA I expected to be put thought a lot of hassle. I was pleasantly surprised when the first question they asked was if my husband was ok! We had been with them only about a year at that point and had no problems but this was the test. How would they handle his accident? Would our insurance go up? No! They said the accident wasn't his fault ( and he had a police report to back it up.)
USAA found a place less than 2 miles from our house for us to take our car to, to get an estimate. When we did we had a check within a week to cover the cost of repair over our deductible.
USAA is a great insurance company that any military family should look into. The rates were the very best we could find. You can pay monthly on a 6 month policy that is automatically renewed. You can even pay higher monthly payments and then have a month off at the end of the six month period. They send you a bill monthly. The customer service is friendly and helpful. They even have a special program for deployed soldiers. It is nice to know we have an insurance company who cares.
