I understand (Reply to this comment)

I learned the hard way with USAA home owner's insurance. After my house burnt down that my boyfriend and I share the mortgage on. I was told that my belongings would not be covered since we weren't married. That would have been nice to know when we, together, signed up for the policy.

I can't agree with some of your complaints (Reply to this comment)

Read your review, and there are a few of your complaints that I have a hard time agreeing are USAA's fault:
1. Your rates doubled after your traffic incident. I'm no insurance agent, but I know that this is common industry practice; when you are involved in an "at fault" traffic accident, your are statistically more likely to be involved in another accident. It sounds like your rates were very low to start with, so the fact that they doubled does not surprise me. I understand the circumstances of your accident were somewhat unique, but you were still at fault. Due to your frustration, it does not sound like you were willing to find out if the incident review by USAA would have changed anything.
2. USAA required your husband's permission before they would remove him from your account. Again, I don't see how USAA could not have asked for his permission to remove him from the account. The only thing I would agree is that they should have contacted you before merging accounts. However, I would be willing to bet they sent you a written confirmation of the account change/merger to your home address, so if he had been added to your account fraudulently, you could have contested it at that time.
3. USAA was insensitive when sending a letter concerning the divorce they perceived would occur. It sounds like you DID give them an indication that you were seperating, and you had requested that your accounts be seperated, so it seems appropriate that they would send you a letter indicating if your divorce is finalized to let them know so that they can update your account.
I can understand your comments about customer service being lacking, that is very prevalent in a lot of companies, and I would imagine you probably did get a lot of run-around. So, I am not saying you had no reason to be upset or to leave USAA, however I think some of the reasons you cited against USAA are standard business practices accross the insurance industry.
