The Bottom Line: I had a roof leak shortly after I got the insurance. They took care of that and fast. I'll stick with USAA.

When I bought a house, I decided to go with USAA home insurance. The service is rated high, and I’ve had USAA car insurance for 24 years. Best of all, USAA has some of the lowest prices for the coverage offered.
USAA financial services plus other benefits like group purchasing have grown over the years. The original idea was to offer insurance to military officers including family members. Then, it went military overall and relatives. Here is how they word it: “Active duty, National Guard and Reserve enlisted personnel, officers and officer candidates, and their families are eligible for membership in USAA.” If you’re not sure whether you qualify to use the services, then check the web page. It has a member sign in, but you can look at the bottom of the home page and see a click to check eligibility.
Shortly after I bought my house, the roof started to leak in the living room where the front porch hooks to the house. Now, I’m sure that should have been noticed and something done about the shingles during the purchase, but it didn’t leak then and it did after a couple of months. I was thinking that was just my bad luck, but I called USAA and asked about the leaks.
USAA set up a time for someone to come out and look at the roof and ceiling. The guy came right when he was scheduled, and he looked things over. He was really nice, and he said that they could cover the roof on the porch and the entire ceiling. It would be impossible to match the few damaged panels.
The check came fast, and I found someone to do the entire roof and work on the ceiling. I picked up the cost on the main roof, since I didn’t want more problems with the roof down the line. It was expensive to re-roof, and it was nice to have some help with the parts damaged during the hard rain.
The leaky roof is the only time I’ve needed to call in USAA, and they covered that. I hope I won’t need them again, but I feel completely sure that they will help out if anything comes up. Plus, they are always professional and nice.
If you do qualify to get USAA home insurance, then they are just a phone call away. You just pay on a payment plan, call when you need help, and they have a web page too. I’ve tried to use the web page, but I can’t ever get that figured out. It is a nice looking page, and I would think it would be nice especially if you banked with USAA. All in all, I don’t worry about my house. USAA has me covered.
