Pros: You get your money fast
Cons: the cost
From some of the reviews i have read here about h and r block made me want to write about a personal experience i had with them during this past tax season.
When we filed our taxes this year my husband was laid off from his job so we decided to go rapid refund with our tax check.First off we felt that we were cheated because of the fees and what they did not tell us before they even began preparing our taxes is if you dont go rapid that you have to upfront for their services ,which we didnt have the money to pay upfront so we thought rapid would be our best option.
Also we were not told any type of estimate of how much rapid refund would of cost us .
I know those should of been warning signs for us to just take our tax forms and walk out asap but like i said we needed the money and wanted it fast so we stayed and had them do our taxes unforntuatily.
Well we got about 2500 dollars back and then by time they deducted their fees we eneded up with bout 1995 dollars.
And also come to find out looking at our tax forms their were some errors made on the tax preparers part and when i called to ask them about it they told me their were no mistakes made and that we got what we were supposed to.
Well we ended up owing state taxes which i still dont see where we owed anything but thats what the tax preparer told us so we trusted them .
Well we had our taxes re done by a friend who did it on paper ,as it turns out we should of got another 1200 back on federal and we should of got a refund on state as well .
We filed an amended return with both state and federal irs and we got our money fairly fast with in 2wks on both.
I even took the forms from irs adknoloding the mistake on h and r blocks part up to h and r block and they still maintained that they never made any type of errors .
Needless to say we never got them to admit to anything but in my opinion they are too expensive and if you want to have your taxes screwed by all means go to them but personally i will never go back their again.
