If there is a time in ones life where uncertainty reigns, it's when you've decided to get a divorce.
I decided.
I had an income, but I had no savings. I had a tiny bit of credit, but not enough to finance moving out and getting an apartment, getting an attorney, and setting up a new life.
I called First Tech, the company credit union. They told me to come in with a check stub and they'd see what they could do. I wasn't a member. I did have this paid-off truck for collateral. So I took it and my paystub to, First Tech and walked out a half-hour later with a new checking account filled with newly borrowed money.
That loan was paid in record time, but I've kept the account and opened several new lines of business.
Every once in a while, the small-ness of this operation gets you. The lack of 24-hour human service. A long hold time. And, most recently, a snafu trying to make a joint account. That's right, there's someone new in my life.
First Tech apologized for the snafu and bought me two boxes of checks as a courtesy.
Courtesy, I like that.
PS: As you can imagine with a name of First Tech, they have one of the best online banking systems around. But, like a small time operation, it tends to be down often.
