| goodwin1's Full Review: Navy Federal Credit Union |
I've been a member of Navy Federal Credit Union since I married my husband back in 1994. I've always been impressed with the services offered by this bank and even recently I learned of another wonderful service this credit union offers, free of charge.
I made a mistake in our check book last month. To cover the check I wrote, the bank automatically removed enough money from our savings account to cover the check FREE OF CHARGE. They offer this service for free up to three times per month. I was so pleased to find this out and relieved too!
Just recently we decided to move the money in our children's savings accounts to an account that would make them more money. We went with a 3 year variable CD and now they are earning double the interest they were before. Upon visiting the bank to do this we sat down with a representative that took the time to go over the different accounts and explain each one in detail. We were not rushed through the process and we learned alot about the different services offered by NFCU.
As I mentioned before, we have our checking and savings accounts with NFCU. The checking is totally free, just pay for the cost of your checks and of course if you ever bounce a check you would probably be penalized if there was not enough money in your savings to cover the draft. ATM transactions are always free at any NFCU. They also have a website where you can access any account with NFCU for free! You can also exchange funds between accounts for free too!
NFCU also offers car loans, new and used at competitive rates, lines of credit, and another convenient service, the check card. I have found this a valuable and convenient way to pay for things when I don't feel like writing a check.
NFCU also has worldwide locations, but unfortunately unless you are military or a dependent of the military you are not able to bank with NFCU. Almost makes joining the military worth it huh? Well.....almost!!! I would never join the military just to obtain access to NFCU but if you are in the military I'd say you were a fool if you didn't utilize this most valuable and convenient way to bank.
