| CMPCAP's Full Review: Navy Federal Credit Union |
My husband actually opened this account up when he was on his last deployment. Right now we use it just for a savings account but I hope to soon use it for all of our banking.
This bank has great interest rates for loans your savings acct. We actually just went through them for our auto loan too. I was very happy with the service we got through the whole loan process. We were actually in the bank to just make a deposit to our savings account and decided to get some information on their loan rates and so forth. We were so happy with their rates that we applied for the loan while we there. It only took about 30 minutes to get in and give them all of our info and they said they would call us the next day to give us an answer. First thing in the morning they called and told us to come and pick up the check. The check was good for 30 days and up to a certain amount of money (what we were hoping for). It was so nice to go car shopping with knowing we already the had the money available to us. Once we did get our car we gave the dealership the check and within 2 weeks we had our paperwork from Navy Federal telling us what our payments would be and when the first payment was due. It was all so hassle free. Best of all our first payment isn't due till 2 months after we bought the car.
I will defiantly use NFCU again for our loans.
There are a few drawbacks to this credit union I think though. Although I love the bank I don't care for their hours. It usually closes at 4 PM and most wives work till 5. On pay days they stay open till 6 but the lines are so long that I avoid that place anywhere around a payday.
Also, I think they need more ATM locations here. I live in San Diego and there are a lot of military in the area. I only know of about 5 ATM's in the whole San Diego area that won't charge me to use them. I also only know of 3 actual bank locations in the San Diego area.
I guess I also feel like there should be some on base. I can't get to the bank by 4 so I would like my husband to deposit the money but because it isn't on base he can't walk into with his work uniform on. So unless he takes civi clothes with him he can't go into it. Since it is navy I just wish they were more accessible to the bases.
I do love Navy Federal and will continue to bank with them I just hope they improve their hours and add some more employees.
