Orange County Educator's Credit Union is Excellent
Written: Mar 10, 2001
Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
I have been banking at the Orange County Educator's Federal Credit Union for twenty-four years. I moved out of Orange County into neighboring Seminole County thirteen years ago, but continue to bank there.
First of all the service has always been good. It doesn't take long to get through on the phone. There are many automated bank windows around town, and they use Honor so you can get money anywhere in Florida from any bank machine. (for a small charge) If you use their own machines, there is no charge. There are several branches in Central Florida, although not nearly as many as the major banks. They stay open until five o'clock every day, and six o'clock on Friday. This is really helpful.
My family has many savings and checking accounts with this credit union. They do not charge for checking. They are a full service credit union, so you can do anything here you would do at any bank. They do not charge interest on loans over the summer for teachers. There is no charge for credit cards. You can get free travelers checks. There are many perks with banking here.
One drawback for me is there isn't a branch real close to where I live. I ususally use an automated teller window for deposits and get money from the supermarket where I buy groceries. If I need to go to a branch office, it is about a twenty minute ride. My paycheck is on direct deposit, so I don't have to worry about that.
Can't think of any bad experiences I have had with this credit union. They pay interest on checking and savings. I have been using them for a long time.
