| queenkim98's Full Review: United Teletech Federal Credit Union |
United Teletech FCU is a member owned financial institution. It was created by employees of Bell Laboratories. In fact, its first branch was located in the building where I work. To make a deposit or withdrawal, all I had to do was run upstairs and make one. In the past 9 years that I have been a member, they have come a long way with the services they provide. They now have more than 8 branch locations, CU at home (online), and CU by phone (telephone access).
UTFCU offers its members almost everything. They offer savings and investment opportunities, loans, mortgages, Visa, Saving Bonds, Notary Service/Signature Guarantee, money orders, wire transfers, just about anything that you can think of.
Because it is member owned, the credit union isn't out to make a profit...therefore, there is no service charge for checking or savings accounts. The checking accounts also pay dividends.
My favorite thing about UTFCU is the convenience. You can have your checks direct deposited, and make transactions via mail. CU at home is also very convenient. I can access my accounts via my pc....now I don't have to run upstairs at work.
The employees of UTFCU are very customer focused. The employees are friendly, fast, efficient, and reliable. Its extremely obvious that they know who pays their salaries.
There is one downside though, due to some laws that were established by Congress, not everyone can become a member. If you or a family member works for, or is a retiree from Bell Laboratories, AT&T, or Lucent Technologies, you may become a member. If you or a family member works for a company that provides contract services to AT&T, or Lucent Technologies, then you may become a member. If you or a family member belongs to one of the sponsored "select employee" group, then you may become a family member. If you do not meet any of these criteria, then you may apply to have your group sponsored to join.
