Durability:
Pros:Toddler size, chunky blocks, compatable with other sets
Cons:not enough blocks, needs another set to be fun
The Bottom Line: Little Builders get your little builder moving and building.
When the third child is a girl, many new and different toys come into the house that were unimagined with boys. We’ve got baby dolls, a doll house, and girly things starting to infiltrate the play room, because of course sister needs to catch up to her two brothers in the toy accumulation. For sister’s first birthday, one of the items that was just for her was the Build ‘n Drive SUV from Little People. Though by itself it isn’t much, the Build ‘n Drive SUV is fun for little hands.
How do you get young toddlers to build? Give them blocks that fit their hands. In the Fisher Price Little People line parents will now find building blocks as part of the LIttle Builders series. The series contains blocks that are approximately 3-4” wide and come in a variety of shapes. In this set, there are 6 blocks - 3 are square, 1 round, 1 shaped like an inner tube and a surfboard. All of the blocks build together and even work with other Little Builders pieces. The blocks can build on the table or on top of the SUV. When it’s time to travel, they tuck neatly inside the truck.
This is Sarah Lynn’s Jeep so of course it comes in pink. The size is just right for little hands and storing the blocks. There are two seats available in the Jeep, though it only comes with the one figure. The back of the SUV opens to allow for the block storage or just driving with the top down. Sarah Lynn is dressed for the beach and fits nicely on the surfboard to catch a wave.
With only six blocks there’s not a lot that can be done with them, but my toddler enjoyed exploring and stacking them. She, and her brothers also enjoyed wandering around with them in hand as well. For a while the pieces were all missing and the SUV got no love from the kids. After she received another Little Builders set the Jeep received renewed love.
