Pros: Great outfit, nice pose, huge freakin' head.
Cons: Falls over easily, accumulates dust and dirt.
The POP! figures are all a little on the strange side; they have nice looking bodies but huge heads. I fell in love with the POP! Maleficent and knew that I wanted to get a couple more. Skellington has a nice look to him but the head does accumulate dust and dirty so you need to clean it with a wet paper towel. The arches above the eyes and the smile give him a slightly mischievous look but its something that any Nightmare Before Christmas fanatic would love to get. There is a Sally figure available but I am not sure if I am going to get it; she is cute but the head really makes her look a little on the grotesque side. OK, that seems like a moronic thing to say considering she's made of stitched together body parts.
There aren't many Jack Skellington or Nightmare Before Christmas things that I don't like. When I first saw the preview for this I liked it, the more I looked at it the less I liked it but I opted to order it anyway. Now that he's been around for a while I can say that he's a nice collectable for people who love the movie but if you aren't into the Burton masterpiece you aren't going to get the grotesque beauty of it. If you are into the POP! series and collect them then getting this will be a given but the blocky head might be a little to hard to handle for non Nightmare fans.
I love the black and white striped suit that Skellington is wearing, his pose is equally sweet. I had to use poster putty on his feet to keep him from tipping over. He was put on one of the high shelves with some similar sized figures but whenever you walk past it there is a little bit of vibration, just enough to make him wobble and fall. Some people might not be bothered by that but if you have other things around it you could end up with a mess. His pose is classic Jack. Not exactly a smile on his face but enough that you can clearly see it on the bone white coloring used for the head.
About the only downside to this is that it attracts dirt; that really nasty icky surface clingy dirt. It's more of a problem with the head than the pinstripe design on the clothing. His neck flair and coattail are nice accents to his overall design and thankfully they are fixed items to they don't move around or lose their shape. This is not a bobble head, while there are probably bobble heads of Skellington, this is not one of them.
So far Jack and Sally are the only characters from Nightmare Before Christmas that have been done in POP! format. I was hoping that they would do Zero [the ghost dog] but there's no sign of him. You can get this for anywhere from nine to fourteen dollars; that's a pretty big price range so make sure you shop around to get the best deal. I wish that Funko would make special co-packs because I am sure that would appeal to a lot of the Nightmare Before Christmas fans. I've seen these locally at Barnes & Noble but the selection is usually picked through so you are left with the less-than-popular characters. I'm glad that I got him and while he is a non-typical view of Skellington he's still instantly recognizable.
