Pros: It looks halfway cool and it's easy to set up...
Cons: ...but it only works when it feels like working.
The Bottom Line: Leave this one alone and grab the real PS2 DVD remote.

Wouldnt you know it
Interact has disappointed me once again. But I guess, just like last time, I asked for it.
I use my PS2 to play DVDs (as most people do), and for the longest time, I used the Dual Shock controller as my remote. Well, that got old quick, and I figured Ill just break down and get a remote. Now, keep in mind that this was during the time I thought buying from Interact was my best bet. I picked up the Interact DVD remote for somewhere around fifteen dollars.
I thought I made a halfway decent purchase when I grabbed this remote. Its a very compact device; about four inches long and an inch and a half wide, molded in way that fits nicely in your hand. For a remote of its size, it was semi-universal, so I could use it for a television clicker, too. It has a flip-switch at the bottom that lets you alternate between the PS2 and your TV. This remote doesnt have a bunch of useless buttons that most DVD remotes have. The buttons perform different functions depending on the DVD/TV switch. Simplistic, but handy.
Its not a flimsy device, but you can tell just by looking at it that it cant take too many bumps. Its case is made of a thin, sleek plastic; the face is black and the back is transparent
you know, so you can see the guts of the remote. I dont know what effect Interact was trying to pull here, but I guess it was enough to sucker me into buying it.
The remote was easy to set up. All you had to do was insert the remote sensor into controller port one on your PS2, throw in a pair of AA batteries, and youre in business. It also came with all the television program codes, all of which are only three digits long. So, Ill give some props in that area; it was a breeze to set up and use
that is, when it felt like working.
Despite its ease of use, it was not the most reliable accessory. It almost seemed like it worked only when it wanted to, and if you wanted results, youd better have great aim because this remote will not respond if you are not lined up near perfectly with the sensor. I feel like this: if Interact wanted accuracy so badly, they should have added a set of crosshairs to the remote.
This thing lasted for about six months before it decided it didnt want to work anymore. I swear, it hasnt even been two weeks since I dropped the review on Interacts 16-megabyte memory card, and now my Playstation 2 DVD remote controller goes south. If you feel the need to own a DVD remote, this is definitely not the way to go. Dont be cheap like me
blow the extra five bones and get the Sony PS2 remote.
