Why buy a PS2 when the newer PS3 is touted by many gamers as being the best on the market?
1. Capability The earlier generation console, which has excellent graphics and a 300 mhz processor is most likely sufficient to meet your families needs. It may not have the Blue Ray capability of its descendent, the PS3, but it does a fine job of playing all other DVDs and CDs, offering Dolby Digital sound and great picture quality. After three years of use our PS2 is still functioning well, unlike any other DVD/CD player we have purchased recently.
2. Affordability If the thought of spending $400.00 and up, plus extras for a gaming console and add ons sends a shiver running down your spine or a worried glance at your bank and credit card statements, you are not alone. With a price tag of around $100.00, the Play Station 2 fits in with most families financial situation. When you factor in what you are getting for this low price: an awesome gaming system with DVD and CD compatibility, the PS2 is more than a wise choice for your money.
3. The Games With more than 1700 available titles, the Play Station 2 has something for every taste and age. And despite the launch of the Play Station 3 Sony is continuing to release games for the ever popular PS2, including the new Guitar Hero Metallica (April 2009), Madden NFL (available August 2009) and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Talent (coming in June 2009)
4. Your Kids Will Still be Cool They may not believe this when they are begging you to forgo the mortgage payment for a higher priced console, but when they're rocking out in the basement with Guitar Hero Metallica and a few of their friends, they will forget how uncool they are.
