| SonicXtreme's Full Review: Blue Stinger for Dreamcast |
When I first got this game, I'd never played on of those "Resident Evil" games that everyone says this is a rip off of. But I had played alot of other video games, and I must say that Blue Stinger is an enjoyable experience.
The story of Blue Stinger is sort of "eh". You are fishing with your buddy and see an island in the distance. All of a sudden the island sort of blows up and a huge forcefield covers you and the island. Nothing extraordinary, but interesting at least. You can play as one of two characters in Blue Stinger, Eliot and his friend Doggs. Basically, the game goes like this: you walk around looking for ammo. Blow mutants up. Buy a new gun. Blow up some more stuff. See a cutscene. However I find this gameplay pretty fun, since I love blowing things up :).
There are few puzzles in BS (wait, that doesn't sound right...) but none take longer to solve then 15 minutes. There is also alot of item searching in Blue Stinger, mostly looking for new key cards to unlock more doors. The game is overall pretty short, taking about 10 hours to complete but it's a fine distraction from all the cutesy games floating around today.
Bottom Line: If you love big guns and blowing things up, this game's for you. It's pretty cheap too ($10 at Best Buy). Worthy of a purchase.
