LastAttack's Full Review: Gundam Side Story 0079: Rise from the Ashes for Dr...
I've been a fan of 'Gundam Wing' for a while and when i say a game with the word "Gundam" in the title was more than happy to look it over. It was intriging enough to spent my money on...
Unfortunately I was met with a sudden disappointment when I discovered you didn't pilot a gundam at all but a standard mobile suite resembling a Leo. Well that aside I sat down and began to play.
The dazzling graphics and lush sound blew me away. The first person view was probably the most ideal view for piloting the suite and gave it a more realistic feel.
Then I actually started the maneuver the suite. What a pain! Using the directional pad to move! This meant that the "mobile" part of "mobile suite" was eradicated. In the show these suites could fly at high speeds and easily avoid missiles and bullets. The suite moves like a man with a limp with large clunky steps. The boosters made charging and flying hard. All that aside I continued my assault on the enemy.
Soon I found myself in an intense battle with a highly intelligent AI pilot. Unlike the show bullets down tear through your enemy's armor and your beam saber doesn't cut through them melting their armor. This could also be a fortunate thing do to the fact you and them have similar suit. You would be exterminated just as easily as he would. The feature that saves this battle technique is the lock on feature. You can focus move on the battle than following him around.
Weapons are also a strong point. Lock on and sniper assault from afar with machine guns and when the enemy's weak finish him with a saber strike. Finally the suites. No gundams in sight but still better armor and weapons as you progress. Over all cool game with a cool story line, awesome visuals and audio's but bad mobility.
