Rayman was originally a playstation title. It was one of the playstation’s best 2D best side-scrolling platform games. Now Rayman has arrived for your Dreamcast.
In Rayman 2 pirates have imprisoned Rayman’s friends and smashed the world’s magical force into 1,000 pieces or lums. You then play as Rayman. You have to free your pals and collect lums along your journey. There are 45 linear worlds. Most of them offer a bonus level if you find all the lums. But in some levels you need to find a minimal to progress. As you go through the game you have the ability to go back to the previous levels. This is very useful because along the way you will pick up some new moves that you will be able to get some lums in earlier levels. This game has some nice puzzles, intense action, and a good story. It is a very addicting game in the end.
There is a little clipping and no draw-in. the levels are nicely detailed and Rayman 2 is one of the best-looking dreamcast games. The environments have crisp textures, realistic structures, and good special effects. Some of them are lighting, waterfalls, and oceans. The characters are lifelike.
Rayman 2 feels like a cartoon. The music sets he mood and increases speed during battles and slows down when nothing is going on. Rayman has plenty of powers. He can turn his ears into a helicopter to swinging and throwing objects. There are places where you will ride a rocket or water-ski. The controls are responsive. The only annoying thing is the character voices isn’t that good. They sound like mumbles and you can’t understand them. Also the camera sometimes places you in odd angles.
But in the end Rayman 2 is a great game that is challenging and fun. It will keep you occupied for some time with its story and characters
