I have always loved fighting games. I bought Powerstone, and when I had my N64 I had I think 3 of the Mortal Kombat games. But then my friend brought this game called Tech Romancer to my house one day, and I was amazed. Now, fighting games are cool, but ROBOT fighting is just awesome. See, if a person is blown to bits, it doesn't quite seem realistic. But if you see a robot explode, well, its just cooler because that really happens. Well, okay, so no it doesn't but it still looks beter. Oh, and did I mention that this game is 3-D?
The graphics in Tech Romancer are surprisingly detailed. The robots look awesome, and when you do a "Final Attack" the scenery changes and the attack looks great. The controls are very easy to learn, I caught on in about 3 minutes (no, I didn't read the manual). Same controls as in all fighting games. Jump, Block, Attack A, Attack B. I got Tech Romancer for Christmas, and since then, time has been flying by because I play it so much. I will be playing this well into 2001. The sound in Tech Romancer isn't that great, but it doesn't need to be. They could have changed the dialogue into English so when they talk (when you win) you can understand what they are saying. That is the biggest flaw with this game. The game itself is somewhat difficult, and the Hero Challenge Mode gets tiring quickly. But it is fun to play Story Mode with everyone and see how their stories unfold.
