xtreme3hardys's Full Review: Pokemon Gold for Game Boy Color
Pokemon Gold/Silver is a masterpeice! The gameplay is great and the graphics are supurbly better than that of Red, Blue, and Yellow's. There is also 250 pokemon instead of 150 so now the challenge is greater.
If you are looking for a Semi Difficult RPG game for gameboy [color] this is the one for you. PC Gamer says "#1 RPG for GBC ever," Nintendo Power says, "the RPG you will love for life," I say "Nintendo and Game Freak do it again," and their statements are all true.
There are many differences between this and the pre relesed pokemon games such as Red, Blue, and Yellow including over 100 new pokemon, a new backpack setup, and a new cellphone feature so that you can communicate with other trainers from the game.
The graphics are also better as this game is designed for Game Boy Color (still can be played on Pocket and the original also) which means that it is in full color, with smaller pixels (more detailed). The older games were created when only the pocket was out which made using more details impossible and animations useless.
This game is fully compatible to trade with the old Pokemon games as long as no new pokemon are in your party when you enter the Time Capsule. This makes it possible for you to trade the pokemon you want from your Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow game to your Gold/Silver game. You cannot battle from old to new but that would be useless anyway.
The foremost and final reason to buy Pokemon Gold/Silver is that it is very inexpensive at about $25.00. I would reccomend trading in your older pokemon games in to Funcoland or another gaming store for store credit because those games will just collect dust as you will never play them again.
