bobafett29's Full Review: All-Star Baseball 99 for Nintendo 64
There are new additions to this years incarnation of ASB. When you deliver the first pitch to a batter, and if it is a strike, there will be a red circle in the hot/cold zone box with a number of what pitch it was. This game includes all 30 Major League Teams, Stadiums, and players, plus each team’s ten top minor league prospects. This game also has smart trading, so you can’t trade Jay Bell for Sammy Sosa (Unless you sweeten up the deal first). I have traded three pitchers that are nothing for Roger Clemens before though. BUT, if a trade is in the major league that won’t let you make in the game, you have the option to override it. This year’s game also has a new added Instant Replay option. If you have the $29.99 4MB Expansion Pak, it lets you watch those really long plays, just like QBC ‘99 did. It also includes a brand new batting system. It really is like last years, only if you hold down the B button when the blue square is up, you can choose a field to hit to. This comes in handy when you want to sacrifice fly and take one to the opposite field. It also has the option of guessing which pitch your opponent will throw. If you guess right, the box will get really big. If you guess wrong, it will get smaller and be harder to hit.
