| kitkat623's Full Review: Bomberman Hero for Nintendo 64 |
Bomberman....he's one of those guys who has been around a long time, and will probably be around for a while longer too. Bomberman games have always been more puzzle-oriented than action-oriented in my opinion, but there has always been enough action. Another thing that made Bomberman famous was its multiplayer mode. I don't remember one Bomberman game from the past that didn't have a multiplayer mode. Well, Bomberman Hero switches away from most of these things to become a more action-oriented, Mario 64 style adventure.
One of the things about Bomberman is that he couldn't jump, that probably would have made the games really easy. Well, in this game, it's absolutely required that he jumps every now and then. He can do all the things with his bombs he could in his previous N64 title, Bomberman 64, plus more. While there are a few puzzles to solve, the game is hands-down more action-oriented than any other Bomberman title I've played. This will enrage some and please some. Also, the game seems a lot easier than any of the other titles, simply because of the freedom the game allows you. Sometimes, the game seems too easy.
Gameplay differs at different points of the game. Certain levels have you riding a snowboard, a submarine, and even a giant green bunny. Most of the time though, you play as Bomberman on foot.
The graphics are pretty good , as well as the sound. In the end, while this is a decent game, there are betters out there. Rent first.
