sk8rdn's Full Review: Extreme-G XG2 for Nintendo 64
To start off with I'd like to say that even though I haven't played this game in Forever (it was stolen from me), it still remains one of the better racing titles that the Nintendo 64 put out.
Well start with the cons:
The graphics (although improved from XG) are still lacking that 'snap' that most other games have. But still, they are very decent graphics (especially if you have seen it on an older platform).
The Sound, to put it plainly, is non-existant. Not much in the way of racing tunes, and the sound effects (such as the other bikes wizzing past you) needs some cleaning up.
Motion sickness can be a problem, a friend of mine could only play for a while (as the quick change in camera angle got to him). So a note to people who get sea sick easily- play in short intervals.
The Good things:
The game does feature (along with the racing) a seperate Battle Mode which is in itself enough kick your firend's butt on. More of an arena style, but it does have some draw backs, the battle mode does get kind of boring after a while.
Also in the bag of goodies (if you've never seen the game) is the weapons that you can use while running 600 mph through the tracks. These weapons are able to be turned off if you are more a race fan than a carnage person.
The single best part of this game is it's controls. Very easy to learn and use and the game is old enough that they weren't trying to push more graphics through the screen which in alot of games today causes you to loose your controls momentarily.
This is kind of an addicting game- one that you can play at 2 in the morning with the TV muted in your room so you dont wake your little brother and still actually enjoy and keep playing. Although after you play it for a month and a half straight, you may need to take a break with a nice RPG to take your mind off of all that speed.
New worlds never before seen tracks toons of added features and enough adrenaline to fuel a herd of elephants! Extreme G2 is the sequel to last year's...More at eBay
