| greendaydm's Full Review: Goemon's Great Adventure for Nintendo 64 |
Goemons goes back to the snes days when almost all the games on snes were side-scrollers. Soon after the N64 was revieled, The Legend of the Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon (schwoo!) appeared on the store shelves. It did not do to succesful, soon after I found it at blockbuster for 10$ to buy! Konami had to do something to keep there Blue-Haired man. So Konami decided to ditch that 3-d platforming and go to some old skool side scrolling 2 player action! Goemons Great Adventure consists of the four adventurerers from the 1st N64 title...Goemon, Ebisamaru, Yae, Sasuke are all here for a good ol' adventure in Japan. The graphics are very pleasing to the eye, but could use a little work. The producers did manage to have a Day/Night sequence that helps you get in the adventurous mood. The game consists of 5 worlds, about 5-6 levels per world, and 1 or 2 towns. The towns let the side scrollingness take on new heights as you can actually free walk around, which can be a nice change from the crazy straight forwardness. The story is as follows, one day the old wise man invited Goemon and Ebisamaru to see his newest invention, a machine to bring back the dead. while the old wise man was showing the guys how it works, he accidently flipped the wrong switch, in a matter of seconds the machine was gone, and a chunky figure stood there. It was Ebisamarus sister.Obisamaru. She told them that she is going to bring back Dochuki, the lord of the underworld, and they shall rule the world together! Together you (and possibly a friend) must save Japan, and the world! Another "tricked out" part of the game is the giant Robot Battles. Ever seen that lamo show Power Rangers? When they use that big robot to do battles? Thats exactly what this is, except cooler, go first person into IMPACT (the giant robot fighting friend). use punches, kicks, and combo moves to knock out the other robot! FUN! This is one adventure that you should be sure not to miss. It even says it in the title Goemons Great Adventure.
