| mlgriffin's Full Review: Goemon's Great Adventure for Nintendo 64 |
This game is fantastic. It's got all the fun playability of the Legend of the Mystical Ninja for the SNES, but with the N64's graphics.
I loved the previous SNES version, with all the mini games, great bosses, and of course the 2 team co op, with piggybacking. Pure genius. The first Mystical Ninja game for the N64 was a first person deal, and didn't have the charm of the old 2d versions. This on has everything you loved about Mystical Ninja, and more.
For starters the main characters are back (4 in total if you your not familiar with the Japanese versions of the Goemon games). You get to use each, and they all have different weapons, power ups, and uses. All control and play like a dream, and you can do 2- 4-player coop. Hard, but fun.
There's a ton of levels here, each with multiple exits, and hidden things. On top of that there's a constant day/night timer, and at nighttime each level has some subtle differences. You could play the first level of this game (5 or so subsections total) for weeks and not find everything. But there's so much more.
If you like platformers, or are just looking for something completely bizarre and unique, you can't pass this up. You can find it in bargain bins sometimes for like 25 bucks. It's a crime if you don't pick it up.
