| botellan's Full Review: Mario Party 2 for Nintendo 64 |
In Mario Party2 you travel through different boards (or levels) and try to place first in rankings by buying or stealing stars and coins. You can play as one of the six characters: Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Luigi, DK, or Wario. Toad takes you through the game and sells stars for twenty coins a peace.
There are five regular boards to play: Pirate Land, Western Land, Space Land, Mystery Land and Horror Land. There is also a hidden board were you have to defeat bowser (he is described below).
There are a wide variety of mini-games; some are quite enjoyable while a few require no skill whatsoever. In these mini-games you can play in two teams of two, one person vs. the other three, or everyone for themself.
Unfortunately, there is one party pooper named Bowser! If you land on his space on the board he will take your coins or stars. Some other important characters are the ghost that will steal other player's coins for you, the little turtle who owns koopa bank, Woody who owns mini' games, and many other strange and ununsual creatures!
A whole gang ready 2 party!
I purchased this game because I enjoyed the original Mario Party. Unfortunately the two are VERY similar! I recommend that if you would like to purchase a Mario Party game stick with the original. Many games are copied and some cool features are left out in MP2. Overall, N64 did a good job but sick with MP1: twenty five extra bucks aren't worth paying!
