A wacked-out, fun party bash, but too repetitive...

Pros: A quick, easy, and fun party game. Good humor.
Cons: Pretty damned worthless if you're playing alone, unless you want to relieve stress.

| dellesfy's Full Review: Rampage: World Tour for Nintendo 64 |
Yeah, Rampage: World Tour has got hit by more flak than the average Allied World War II bomber, but that does nothing when I played the game both alone and with my friends. The result: A slightly underrated game (and I mean only SLIGHTLY).
The graphics look cartoonish in nature, and tend to give the game a goofy, clay-like feel. The looks of the buildings are very repetitive, though, and after the 20th or so city, you'll probably will be sick of the same edifice infrastructure pattern for the rest of your life.
The gameplay is a mixed bag. For one, it is fun to blast away buildings and punch your own buddies for the bragging rights. It's fun all by itself, but... that's about it for gameplay. The areas have slightly different features to 'em (i.e. some levels allows you to turn into the mutant V.E.R.N., allowing you to totally destroy buildings with one swipe). As for a one-player game, the game is only fun as a 10 to 30-minute stress reliever, as you can take out a hard day at school/work by smashing up cities and eating people with a 50-foot-tall ape or lizard. But sadly, it's not fun at all for someone demanding variety. Challenge is nonexistent (except in multi-player), as you can continue an unlimited number of times.
The sounds are pretty fun to hear (tiny screaming citizens, smashing of buildings, explosions, etc.), but are quite limited not frequent enough for the average arcade gamer. The music is only average, but it seems that the music is very nonexistent as you play the game.
Overall? Not much to say. An average multi-player game, but pretty boring as a single-player game. There are millions of other good arcade-style games out there - just make a quick search of your local electronics store, or the Internet.
