lazarus666's Full Review: Turok 2: Seeds of Evil for Nintendo 64
I really don't know if I could put Turok 2 into my love it! or hate it! list, I'd put it into the okay! list. Turok 2 was really all that bad, but then again it did need some work.
The goods: Outstanding graphics, better than anything on the Playstation or Nintendo 64 to date, the first world really stands out here. The control is also enjoyable for the most part, and if you have or have played Turok 1, then it'll feel quite easy, if not, it'll take you about an hour or so to get used to it.
My favorite level in Turok 2 was certainly level 3, the one with the pur-lins or level 4, lair of the blind ones. Both were really dark and scary, and had lots of big and nasty creatures in them.
The bads: First of all, the weapons are the worst part of the game. Of course there is the standard pistol, shotgun, and blade and so forth. But aside from the incredible flamethrower, there's nothing really innovative here, or new, or USEFUL. The PFM layer was absolutely pointless, the grenade launcher wasn't as good as in Turok 1, and the Nuke weapon takes forever to fire.
Second, the "worlds" probably could be called that because they are worlds, they take so long to complete, and are just a bunch of mazes with monsters and aliens in them.
Third, the frame rate hiccups whenever too many dinosaurs get on the screen, and it becomes very bothersome after a while.
The expansion pak helps considerably, but isn't amazing or anything, and the multi player is only adequate.
In conclusion, if you want a gory, violent shooter, look no further. But if you want a fun, and large disposal of great weapons and bad guys, look further.
