WCW/NWO Revenge just 2 sweeet!

Written: Jul 01 '02 (Updated Jul 01 '02)
Pros:Nice Game Engine, Good Graphics, Hours of gameplay
Cons:No career mode, No referee, No Create a wrestler
The Bottom Line: Get this game quick to experiece some high impact fun.

Intro: Well my friend had got N64 with Revenge so I had spent the night over his house and boy were we in for a wild ride....on the outside.

Gameplay: The introduction to WCW/NWO was real good and proves why Asmik Ace are leaders in developing wrestling games. There are not many modes in the game but that doesn't really matter because the gameplay is top notch and they merely mastered the N64 controls with ease. There is strong grapple and easy grapple well that is self explanatory. You don't have to press like 4 or 5 different buttons to pull off one simple move. The game in action is cool and playing a tornado tag with crusierweights is a blast. You can jump off the top rope and land on your opponent with a 450 splash just by dragging him to the spot you wan't him to be and land it good for the 1..2..3!! You submissions are cool and show the wrestler tapping out. The finishers are really cool and they actually lay down for a while before they get up and shows them twitching to a brainbuster!!How realistic is that? You can fight outside and all the way through the aisle and thats it. There are many different weapons to choose from and whacking someone over the head inadvertenly is funny as hell. And when it comes to realistic Asmik Ace delivers with BLOOD! Yes the wrestlers bleed after any kind of face impact that can really do some damage. They have battle royal mode and that is fun also. There is no career mode but they have a Championship mode where you go through 10 people to get the title and unlock the secret wrestlers. There is no referee in the ring but instead a graphic image of him counting to 3. I could understand that problem seeing as they can only fit 4 wrestlers at a time on screen. The taunting in the game is also good and sometimes funny.

They also have a edit constume you can only change there costume and the colors and stuff. So you can sorta of keep the game up to date but there is no more WCW.......Anyway the entrances are full length and are really good with pyros and stuff. The game is great Multiplayer fun as well with Tag Team mode and handicap matches are awesome. You can also actually if you hurt them enough lets say you do the Jacknife Powerbomb, you can TKO them and thats that which is cool to do on your friends. You can do double team moves as well. One of the most realistic parts in the game lets say you have Jericho vs Raven and all of a sudden Kevin Nash comes out and powerbombs Jericho and leaves. And Raven pins for the 3 count now thats realistic. Sting also descends from the rafters in battle royal also which is cool. You can select from 4 different costumes at the wrestler select also and they have mostly all there PPV's and Nitro. And the best part about this game of all is...SPINAROONI! Yes thats right when you get your special up with Booker T somehow yo get knocked down he will get up by doing the Spinarooni which wasn't popular back than but now it is. Gameplay 9.5

Graphix: Good graphics the fans are flat polygon shaped but that doesn't matter. The wrestlers look just like the wrestlers the mat looks real along with the background of the detailed PPV's and the Nitro set makes you feel like your IN the action first hand. Graphix 8.5

Sound: There are only two entrance themes the Nitro theme and some other one because the gameplay is whats important. The wrestlers also make sounds like grunts and groins when you put them in a submission and the fans boo when you do a cheap shot. Also Randy Savage says his Oohh Yeah when you do his taunt and Hogan says something like YEAH along with Golberg says that to when you go for the ol 10 punch of the turnbuckle thing. Sound 7.0

Replay Value: WCW/NWO Revenge will have you playing for hours on end. With all the stuff in here to do along with the grappling gameplay you will be playing this for monthes. Replay Value 8.0

Overall: This game is pretty sweet and it's no wonder when it released in 98 it got Wrestling game of the year and was the best wrestling game out so far. Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy by the same company Askmik Ace boosted there ability's as far they can go on the N64 but Revenge will stand out as one of the games that put wrestling games on the map and when WCW at the time were riding high on success. Overall 9.0 (not an average)
