Ok first off let me say that this is one of the best rpgs i have ever played. It has almost everything and you can travel in a big fantasy world with demons, monsters and even people who will join your group or they may not depending on how good you are or not. You can equip weapons and armor sword and shields or use powerful magic. This game isnt all hack and slash like diablo. This game is better. You get to travel into many towns meet people shop etc.. Some people might even try to kill you! yeah kinda sad i know. I was one of those people who was going to buy the game just for multyplayer. But i was dissopointed. I could never join a game it was that unstable. But this game isnt meant for multyplayer. It focusued ALOT on singleplayer and this game alone being singleplayer is awsome! I mean you can imagine it being multyplayer because you can create a character with these charcter Choices, Paladin, Fighter (my favorite) Wizard-Specialist mage-necromancer, conjuiror, i forgot the rest... ranger thief,rouge,druid. AND you can choose their race also, Gnome,Human,Dwarf,halfling.
The Baldurs Gate World
This game has a very good storyline, You start out in candlekeep where you were born and grew up. You meet many freindly faces there. You can walk around talk with people have nice little conversations. Just one word in thought though, THIS GAME IS LIKE REAL LIFE...There had to get that out :)
This isnt no game where you have 1 path you must follow no no boy. You can go where you want and you can attack anything in the game YES ANYTHING LITERALY!!!!! well..not trees and objects but living things you can attack. But i wouldnt recommend killing everything for you will have trouble with guards in the long run..Very bad. Anyway this game has a big BIG! world to explore with lots of danger just be careful not to go to far out in the earliy going for you might get killed rather easily.. And the weather effects are groundbreaking sleet, snow rain ,day night
And also this game runs on hours that make the weather change and u can even get tired to so you will need to rest at some points.
COMBAT INTERFACE
The combat system uses AD@D rules so you can select what you and your party wants to kill(you can even kill (townspeople). You can either have the combat go in real time or press space bar to pause the game and select what you want to do (VERY HELPFUL). Not much to say about the combat.
MEETING PEOPLE
you can talk and meet people in the world who will join your party and help you on your travels. This isnt like diablo where you have just 1 person going around killing stuff. Well you CAN have 1 person with no people but it would be really hard. You can group togeather differnt people with differnt personalities.

Ok this is my favorite part about this game. There IS NO RIGHT WAY OR WRONG WAY HOW TO PLAY THE GAME! For instance you can kill some people and it wont affect your gameplay at all. THIS IS HOW REALISTIC THIS GAME REALLY IS!!!!! you can go ANYWHERE IN THE BALDURS GATE WORLD DO ANYTHING!!! you can either flow with the story or not get any main characters in ur group and it STILL wont affect your gameplay whatsoever! you have to play this game to see what i mean. Really you do. Oh and at some parts well most anywayz when you talk to someone you can choose what to say sometimes the outcome may varify to fighting ,friendlyship or other... And when u meet certain people sometimes what you say can alter events also like for example. I talk to mr.x, The three choices are, Hey you im sick of all the people i meet in the world being sarcastic, Um im sorry i will leave you know, Let me see your master., Now say i choose Let me see your master. Mrx. Will send in his master instead of fighting me or leaveing me alone. See this game is so free wondering. ( I hope i didnt confuse you on this one ) But making choices just shows to you how realistic this game is and can Possibley be.
IN CONCLUSION
Buy the darn game! you wont be dissapointed, Oh and get this 2 moe games i have YET to try with bigger worlds then even this game they are, Icewind dale, And Baldurs Gate 2 im getting those for xmas :) Be sure to try those out also
