MississippiMom's Full Review: Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2: Open Season for Window...
CABELA'S BIG GAME HUNTER II is a Hunter's Dream come true for a PC game that is great for hours of adventure without having to leave the comfort of your home. We started out with CABELA'S BIG GAME HUNTER when it first came out, my son enjoyed the graphics and adventure that we had to expand to Big Game Hunter II.
In Big Game Hunter II the main features of this game is it allows you to hunt in four different locations such as: ALBERTA, COLORADO, NEW MEXICO, and AFRICAN SAFARI for big game species; bears, elk, moose, carabou, whitetail deer, mule deer, zebras, cougars, mountain goats, turkey, impalas, wild pigs, elands, gemsboks and others.
It gives you the option to select from 16 weapons to hunt with from Muzzleloaders to bows.
What I found most intriguing about this game is it has real videos of the game/location that you are hunting. The concept of this game is to fill all the tags for each region without running out of money. It is up to you as the Great Game Hunter that you want to be, to manage your money, equip yourself properly for each region, develop your skills to anticipate animal's behavior in the terrains and to watch for the weather conditions and naturally become the expert marksman!
For the beginner players they have two quick start packs to choose from which includes your weapon, ammo, tags and gear. The more advanced hunter can make all the selections themselves.
Each hunter can create their own character and the level of hunting Beginner, Advanced or Expert. The level you select determines the frequency that the animals appear, your starting money and health. This is very interesting because it sort of teaches you survival in the wilderness. You have to also concentrate on maintaining your health otherwise your guide will send you back to the camp.
With your starting money you have to stop at the Tour Office. The Tour guide explains the options to you and this is where you can buy your gear and book your hunt.
Once you have booked your hunt you then travel to the Lodge in the region you have selected where you interact with the Lodge Host and the Tour Guide. At the Lodge you will find activity links like Catalogs that you can buy and trade your gear, take a safety test, select weapons and buy ammunition, buy your tags and even go to the target range. When you are ready to leave the Lodge a map will be displayed showing your present location and the location for the four camps and the Lodge, it also shows you the travel time between each destination, which helps you in your hunting strategy.
Once you have purchased your tags and gear you are on your way to the camp, from the camp you head to the STAND HUNTING for hours of fun and adventure!
Do I have Big Game Hunters in my family? I sure do! MississippiMom holds the TOP TROPHY in the trophy room at the Lodge! This is one game that we will continue to play on the PC and will continue to add to our adventures with the expansion pack and BIG GAME HUNTER III
