ar_c's Full Review: Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2: Open Season for Window...
I was browsing through the software at an office supply store looking for something new and inexpensive to play with. There I found Cabella's II for $12.95!
I had played some other game simulations that gave you only one type of animal to shoot at and got bored real quick.
I examined the box and saw that it had many different animals to hunt as well as different weapons to hunt them with. This looked like I could probaly get my $13 of play out of it and then sell it a couple of weeks later - that was 2 months ago.
I was very impressed at how well it played. The graphics are superior. Every time you "aim" at an animal, a live action video comes up of the animal in it's natural habitat.
This is where the additional benefit came in. My kids are now able to identify many different animals on sight. As I was playing last night, my youngest daughter - 7 - was sitting beside. As I aimed at an animal, she stopped me and said "that's not a mule deer, it's a whitetail". As the game progressed, she was able to identify every animal in the african safari section.
One of my other kids explained to me later that I was hunting in the wrong area for a certain animal because they usually lived at higher elevations.
The game has great play value. I have spent many hours with it already and have no intention of trading it for something else.
I highly recommend this game to any hunting game player.
