Homeworld Cataclysm is the new expansion pack for Homeworld. Although the game is not out yet this game will probably be a thriller. Even if you don't have Homeworld, no worries, it can support itself. The game will have many new units and better gameplay.
The whole thing starts 15 yrs. after the original. You are a miner in the Kushan Clan. You are minor-Kiith known as the Somtaaw. You are away with your mining ship when you are ordered to rescue a Kushan vessel that is under attack by some Aliens. Your former enemies the Taiidan have become Pirates and your new enemy known as the Beast, is a life form unlike any other known.
The Beast are much like the Borg. They assimilate other vessels and add them to their army. Their Mothership also fires an infection ray that infects other vessels, The Motherships also move now! The Beast also have a Hive ship that fires a swarm of drones to attack other ships.
The Somtaaw also have a Mothership, but it is a miner ship converted to a makeshift Mothership. Their Mothership fires an explosive ball of energy that explodes on impact. They also have a new ship called the Acolyte. The Acolyte's form together to make a corvette-class ship that fires an EMP blast. They also have the sentinel, a stationary turret ship. Then there is the Multi-Beam frigate that acts much like the Hive Ship.
A few more vessels that they both have are the Leech ship that has three attacks. One, as a spy, Two, as a resource theif, Three, as a life sapper. The other ship is the Mimic, the Mimic ship makes a holographic image of the last ship it saw. Instead of having the Resource, Salvaging, and Repair ship you now have the Support Unit. This unit does all three of those jobs, but beware you will have to decide what to have it do at what times. Most ships in Cataclysm will have a second upgrade.
Overall this game should turn out to be a blast. It will look better, play better and sound better. There will be vocal feedback from ships and even an encyclopedia of vessels. You will also be able to give more detailed orders. As soon as this game comes out I'm going to get it and I hope you do to.
