Pros: You can update the cars & tracks to Current status.
Cons: The game is hard to find, check at Wal-Mart in the $9.99 rack.
This game is so user friendly, I don't believe Sierra meant it to be so easy to update. The fact is you can update this 1999 game to use Current Nascar Drivers racing today (the time of this review is July/2002).
The game will run on a Pentium 100, with 32 MB of ram and 4x CD, darn near any PC .. LOL The graphics are GOOD, the Sound is FINE, the game works with a Joystick or Wheel. (NO force back on this version).
You may set the AI skill level of the game. If you are new to racing you can lower the skill settings until you get the hang of Setting up your race car. If you're a Veteran Racer, the game can be set to race all the way up to 105%. Again, user Friendly as this game is, you can even go into the Track Text file and adjust the AI cars performance, and fine tune it even MORE!!
NO need for Nascar 3, Nascar 4, or Nascar 2002. If you are willing to download a few files and update NR1999.
The game comes with Winston Cup, Busch, and Craftman Series cars and trucks and tracks. Now, all the currently used tracks are not included in the game, but you can find them on the net and easily install them to the game. ( USER Friendly, again ... hehe)
Here is where to get those great addons to this NR1999 game...
Busch Cars and Craftmans Trucks (Up to date & CURRENT)
Winston Cup Cars (Up to date & Current and AI adjusted), also all the missing Winston Cup Tracks and an up to date CALENDAR.
Hundreds of hard to fine Race Tracks of all kinds:
Well there you have all you need to get this game Up to Date and Rubbin' Fenders with Marlin, Cravin, Martin, Gordon, and all the rest of the gang.
See YA at the DAYTONA 500!!
