Whoa, this game is pretty damn cool. The graphics are tight, and the mood is definitely set with the artwork, music, and some of the dialogue.
You and your crack team are sent to Poland to investigate the happenings at a secret installation. When mutations start occuring and you find members of the other team dead, its up to you to put the pieces together and shut this mofo down.
The interface is turn-based, so some players might grow weary of combat, in addition, odd firing arcs on the weapons, namely that most of the can only fire in straight lines, really limit the amount of strategy and combat effectiveness any tactics would have. In addition, the limited amount of ammo and health restoring items mean you have to save and restore quite a bit...more than I would like.
The movies for the game, and the bosses look really good, like something straight out of Resident Evil, or Parasite Eve. However, since this is all turn based-action, some players might not get the shock factor they're looking for from this type of game. Most of the voiceoers are pretty good, it's just that the dialogus they have to work with is extremely trite sometimes. ("This is not normal death, this death reeks of EVIL!")
Still, all-in-all, Odium is a pretty nicely done package. Not perfect, but no game in today's market is...at least it doesn't crash.
