This game could be called Road Rage instead of Road Rash, and you'd have the basic idea down. This is a delightfully simple game that is a motorcycle racing simulation with some kick... literally!
Fourteen racers line up at the start line, and your object is to win the race either by awesome driving skill (ok this works on level one) or by beating your opponents off the bike and into a wipeout. You can punch them, slap them, kick them, run into them, or, if you're lucky, you can use a chain to whallop them or a billyclub to beat them into submission.
All the while, you're avoiding oil slicks, puddles, road debris (like old mufflers), people wandering the streets, traffic, police officers, roadblocks, trees, etc.
Races are set for a finite mile. Your time of finish is actually pretty worthless... you just want to finish first. There's no "records" kept of how fast you make it to the finish line, but, the order that you finish gives you more money.
"What do I do with this money?" might be your initial question. The answer is, you buy a better bike, you repair the bike you're riding, or you post bail after you get arrested.
There are five levels of racing. Each level consists of five races. The first racing level is quite easy, and runs about 5 miles for each race. Each level is progressively harder and a little bit longer.
Overall, this is a very fun game that takes about 3 minutes to learn. The sound is okay, there's some mild cussing if you can even understand what people are saying in the game, and the graphics are fairly good. This is an excellent game if you're into mindless carnage.
I play with a joystick, the game is quite responsive to it, and you should be able to make it to Level Five (and win) in a few weeks of playing the game.
