I have always wanted to be a pilot and when i heard about FLY! being the best out there, i decided that i wanted to try it. But i never got around to buying it until i got it for christmas! Popped it in my CD rom drive and awhile later ( a real while) it was on my computer. The game ate up 1.4 gigs on my hard drive which is a bit much.. but after i played it i could see that it was well worth the space and also why it took so much space. IT has ground breaking effects! IT is extremely well done, the cock pits are very detailed as well as the planes. The airports are semi done well.. they are just blocks with black windows, but they look good. The clouds are done amazingly well as well as the sky. You can actually fly through the clouds and up and above them to see the beautiful skies. The cockpits are fully at your command. For all those real pilots out there that just cant afford a plane.. i suppose this is the next best thing! You can fly a single engine cessna, 2 double prop engines and a jet engine plane. YOu can also download many other planes, including the Boeing 747-400 ( a person favorite) You can also download terrain, which is space consuming but if you have a mega 40gig hard drive, GO FOR IT!! the terain you can download is beautfully designed. The terrain that is already there is also beautiful. OH yes, for all you wanna be pilots you can try to learn how to fly.. there are some instructions in the manual.. or you can just push E and it will do everything for you!! Then you can steer to the runnway and take off.... you will have to learn some of the keys.. like rudder left and right and airloin and flaps.. but there is a handy pamphlet thing to help you with all that and its really not that hard to memorize. Before flying, i forgot to say, you can choose the weather.. from a cloud less sunny DAY to a rainy stormy NIGHT. Or a snowy night, or day! YOu can also pick where you want to take off and land.. although i havent quite figured all that out yet. Now for the cons, this program needs a super computer to run well. It doesnt run so well on my 266mhz iMac... with an ATI Rage 128 graphics accelerator. I would say you need more than 300mhz and alot of RAM and a really good graphics card to get the most out of this game. It is usable on my computer, it just crashes alot and sometimes it is very delayed... But over all, its all worth it.
