This fun and addictive game really takes me back to childhood, playing with my dollhouse and imagining all types of people, families, and situations. Well, Sims allows me to do this again as an adult in amazing detail. The Sims allows you to create, direct, and manage the lives of SimCity’s residents and the ultimate goal is to satisfy the needs of the people, the Sims. Mind you, their satisfaction comes from fairly materialistic things, but with that in mind, it’s quite fun to make up and control lives.
First, you create the simulated people by choosing names, genders, looks, bodies, skin tones, and astrological signs. Then you can choose an empty house in the neighborhood or decide to buy some land and build a house. Building a house is a great deal of fun. There is a design interface where you design a floor plan and be the interior decorator by choosing carpets, wallpaper, furniture, appliances, and fixtures. Money is a factor so you’re not going to get a mansion right away, but eventually, your Sims accumulate wealth and you can move on to bigger and better material things. The emotional state of your Sims is closely tied to material things so the more money they make, the more they acquire, the happier they will be. A simplistic formula for life, but it’s a fun game which requires strategy.
Throughout their lives, players can also take photos of their Sims and upload them to the album on the Sims website and share your Sims with the rest of the world. It’s a great website with lots of cool things to download and try, anything from a face and body editor to new plants or houses.
This game uses quite a lot of computer resources so make sure you have a fairly new computer, I’d recommend a minimum Pentium II over 300 Mhz. Makes me want to run our and buy a newer computer.
I highly recommend this game, it has a great sense of humor and amusing situations pop up all the time, just as in life I guess. Have fun and try not to become totally immersed!
