I am writing this review, not only for your review, but for your help. My daughter bought me The SIMS a month ago, and frankly, its a good thing that I am not God! The world would be a sadder place, believe me.
The SIMS is a wonderful game where you are in control of someone's life. After loading the game, you then create your own character(s) and map out their life step by step. Let me tell you what I have done.
I decided to create a woman by the name of Denise (what else). She buys a house, and money is given to furnish her house, from top to bottom. I start in the bathroom, purchasing a sink and medicine cabinet, a shower stall or bath tub and a toilet bowl. Then I move to the kitchen and provide a refrigerator, counter with sink, stove, and a coffee pot. I also purchase a phone, smoke alarm and a burglar alarm. Next, I need a bed, a bureau so I can change my clothes, The house I buy is too small for a table in the kitchen, so I buy an outdoor table and two chairs. Last, but not least, I buy a couch, a lamp, a book case to study cooking and mechanics, a television and a stereo system.
Each morning, the paperboy comes along and drops the newspaper outside your front door so you can look for a job. In the beginning I would forget to look at the paper for employment, and my creation did not want to work. She was too depressed! I would buy a computer but she refused to use it for a job. I axed many characters before I realized that one of the first thing you must do was to get work.
People are constantly dropping by. When I get company, it always seems that these people never sit down. I sit, I stand, I sit, well you get the picture. Then my character will fall on the floor out of sheer exhaustion after relieving herself on the floor, The company would go home, never to return! My character waves her arms in the air, with flashing pictures of TV's or music symbols. I turn on the television, or put the stereo on, but she never seems satisfied. I bought her an exercise apparatus, but she is always to depressed to use it. I tell her to read, but she is too depressed to read. I would have Denise call a neighbor but they were too busy watching their weeds grow.
I recently got slapped from a neighbor and a warning came on that I should be careful who I let in my house. The stove went on fire and destroyed my floor. A burglar stole my television and stereo. Although I gave my character a very high mark in neatness, the food is put on the floor and the garbage is always overflowing. The bugs are always flying above the dish or garbage pail. I finally hired a maid to clean and a gardener to keep my landscape alive. There isn't enough time to do all of this, entertain guests, eat, take a shower, and go to bed.
Although I have worked out many of the kinks in the game, I still cannot get involved in a serious relationship. Denise is always crying because she is lonely and dreams of romance. I created other characters in the neighborhood, and supplied them with phones, but that didn't seem to help.
I have also downloaded many additional items from the sims web page. When I went ack to the game, I couldn't find what I downloaded. Does anyone have a clue to this?
This is a marvelous game and I'm sure you will enjoy it. It is a challenge to be in complete control of ones life, However, it is not as easy as it sounds. I have purchased many items to keep Denise busy, but she is never happy. I have tried all different zodiac signs too but to no avail. She is always complaining. I wonder if that is how I sound to my family.
When I am not writing, reading and rating, I am attempting to make Denise happy. What am I doing wrong? HELP!
