ChromeKiller's Full Review: Armored Core: Master of Arena for PlayStation 1
Did you know that Armored Core: Master of Arena is only an expansion pack, in fact, the third expansion pack from the first? So technically, it's still the first game. Only, with a new look to it. In Armored Core: Master of Arena, you are to be a Raven pilot. Your code name can be whatever you want it to be. Because that's the option you're given. You can even name your own Cores (mechs or robots if you will). But first, you have to complete a few missions to make an example of yourself. Once you do so, you'll receive a benefactor who will pay you money each time that you complete a mission. Or even fight another Core in the arena area. There's not much plot to the game. But it is fun to play. The only story behind it really, you'll find in all the missions. And it's always a company power plant that has to be saved. Or sometimes you've got to rescue hostages from killer Cores. The fun part about the game however, is designing your mech. Change the color, design your own logo to put on the Core's arm. Or choose a logo from the menu. And of course, you can decide how slow, how fast, or how well guarded your Core can be. To do this, you must gain money. And to gain money, you're going for the missions and Cores that you want to achieve done. Once you get enough money, add parts like a radar jammer that lets missiles misguide when aimed at you. Or even new arms, legs, and a head. Not every weapon, and not every part is the best to use. But it's really up to you with the many options you're given to choose from, to make the way your Core is fully and functionally designed to your liking. It's something right out of a Burger King commercial "Have it your way!" But for all this, just the one player mode. This is even a fighting game, where you're able to take your designed Core, and load it with a friend's to go at for as long as you'd like. I'd recommend this game to anyone who would like to spend time blowing everything to pieces with their master design of a Core. If you're into any of this, you'll probably have a likely chance of spending at least a month or so playing it over and over again making the best Cores you can.
Climb into a deadly giant robot and get ready for some intense combat. Don't like your weapons? No problem, just outfit your robot differently. You ca...More at GameQuest Direct. com
