JasonVander's Full Review: Armored Core: Master of Arena for PlayStation 1
Armored Core: Master of Arena is definitely a game that you will want to check out! If you love building your own Mech, then this game is a must. Master of Arena is fully loaded with options that will keep you coming back for more. There are literally thousands of different combinations that you can choose from in the assembly mode of the game. Every part from the previous series is available at the beginning as well as many brand new and exciting parts that can upgrade your Mech. Master of Arena also lets you use your previously saved data from the other games in the series, so you don't have to start from scratch.
Another plus is that the game is 2 disks long, which means if you want to pit your Mech up against a friends using a link cable, its easy to do. The split screen 2-player version of the game is OK, but it restricts your field of view and makes it harder to tell what's going on around you.
Of course there are plenty of hidden items and upgrades that you can find during the game, and plenty of super hard enemies to fight in the arena modes. To beat these your going to need some serious smarts and skill to build a Mech that can beat the computer. Also if your able to defeat the arena modes, you can open up secret arena modes that will let you challenge Mechs that were made by the creators of the game and Mechs from a tournament that was held in Japan to see who had the strongest Mech.
This is a terrific game and has lots of replay value since you can build any type of Mech you want and make it work according to the style that want it to have. Definitely a must have game!
