Savior_Omega's Full Review: Armored Core: Master of Arena for PlayStation 1
This game, although lacking the depth I usually look for in a game, is an extremely addictive experience. I played for hours, rampaging through many different missions so that I could gain enough funds to create and optimize a mech that is capable of winning the Arena tournament. AC's can range from a small, fast humanoids and massive, heavily armed humanoids such as my own personal AC, Dues, to four legged, hovering AC's or tank-like, heavily armored powerhouses.
The game's general purpose is to defeat as many missions as possible in order to build a powerful mech to compete in an Arena, in which you move up in rank gradually, finally doing battle with the top AC, whom is the game's key objective. The game offers a countless number of parts, ranging from back-mounted missles and energy weapons, arm weapons such as machine guns and "bazooka" like cannons, specialized leg parts, arms, heads, radar equipment, and any other of various customization parts.
This game is an enjoyable, addictive experience with excellent graphics, as well as excellent sound effects and music. The biggest problem is that some people just don't enjoy the destruction that this game both offers and requires. But the game is not a sensless battle, it requires massive amounts of strategy, planning, and even financial ability.
