BrownBelt's Full Review: Cool Boarders 2 for PlayStation 1
I bought this game about 2 years ago, and of all the Cool Boarders games, I like this one the best. It's challenging, as all of them are, but it is has a shorter learning curve of about 15 minutes.
CB 2 has kept me playing until this very day. There are 9 courses, 4 characters starting out (7 if you win extra characters from Competition mode), and about 75 boards to choose from. If you want the extra characters, there are different competition mode criteria you must meet. The characters include a big, tough guy (Boss), an alien that, instead of riding a board rides a little UFO, and a female snowman on a frying pan. She's the best for speed, but she literally falls apart after landing a jump or hitting something, the alien is tops for tricks, and Boss is just a good all-around boarder.
Once you've mastered competition mode, you can get mirror mode (everything on levels is on the opposite side) or hard mode, where your competition goes faster. You can also go to Big Air, where you are given a long series of tricks as you go down a never-ending slope with drops. If you just want to cut loose on your moves, go to the halfpipe. Or there's my favorite Board Park, where you have unlimited time to do as many tricks as you want. You can jump of snow cliffs, cabs, huge trucks, barrels, etc. Just do what wanna do!
Controls are easy to use once you understand the concept of executing the tricks, and the music is great. I suggest you try CB2 if you like extreme, outdoor, or winter sports. And one more thing, since it's one of Playstation's greatest hits, it's only $19.99!
