Pros: fresh twist on the old shooter genre; music
Cons: The difficult round can be unforgivable, sometimes.
The Bottom Line: Get this game, enjoy it to the fullest and get your rewards, because this game is worth the money you spent it on.

This is the best shooter I know, even better than r-type, even though it lacks some of the concepts of an ordinary shooter. I bought this game because it was made by Square, and famous for their RPGs and by experience, all Square games are good.
When I played this game, I noticed that it has the best music ever for a shooter. Also, I like it the way that some concepts of the ordinary shooter were removed from this game, like upgrading of weapons by making them faster and the fact that there are other REAL weapons out there, not just two lasers firing in different directions or in criss-cross methods and options that separate from your ship and go with you side-by-side and fire when you fire. I also like the fact that Einhander has challenging levels. If any of you Einhander players out there like the game on easy and medium only, knock yourselves out with the Hard level...It's a real knock-out when you play it and very different. There are a lot of differences from the easy and medium level. That's another thing I like about this game...Not only does the Hard level make the bosses and their guns faster, but adds more fighters and they'll seek you front and back, like the level 2 boss who fires a fleet of fighters everytime you destroy a set of gunpods. So you'll have to dodge fighters and their shots behind and face the boss with its cannon, hedgehog, wasp or vulcan fires and the boss' machine gun and "donuts" in front of you. But the best thing that I like about this game is the rewards that they give to you after completing somethings. I am referring to that small police car aka "Die Schabe" and the powerful and almost unbeatable ship, that ship that carries 9999 rounds of any gunpod, the Selene fighter. It has been said that you need to get 15 secret bonuses to get the "Schabe" but I got it personally with 13 bonuses...I think you can also get it with just 12. Now, about the Selene, it has been said that you need to finish the game without continuing on Hard level, but I personally got it using 2 continues only on Hard. Believe me guys, this ship is worth the effort. It looks like the Astrea but colored red. Here are some tips that I can give you to help get the Selene:
1) Get the Juno and equip a double-Juno combination to the Astrea
2) Don't conserve your Junos, fire at anything that moves, and get ready to get another gunpod that you like...Preferably a vulcan or a riot.
3) Don't get any other gunpod in level 1 except the Riot either in the secret bonus, or the second red ship after the signs. This is the only gunpod you should use to substitute ONE juno.
4) In level 2, before the mini-boss fight, your 2nd Juno should have already been empty, so get a grenade launcher, preferably 2 from the walkers on the train, and a vulcan or a cannon as a second gunpod, be careful not to get grenade-grenade combo...I don't expect you to live after you get that combo. In the mini-boss fight, use your grenades to beat it and try to hit the main body, not its pincers or its back. Don't replace your grenade gunpod yet after the mini-boss fight. Get a vulcan from the saucer ship that will come after the fight, and HEAD UP after you get it. Stay at the upper part of the screen and stay there, to avoid all those B-wing like ships and the other saucers, the only things to worry about then should be the drones and the flying walkers. When the boss fight is at hand, launch all your grenades at him on the HEAD...show no mercy! If you have to, beat the hedgehog arm if it's too much a threat to you, but not the vulcan arm, so he won't launch a fleet of fighters behind you. The fight should be over after 30 secs.
5) In level 3, if you still have some grenades, save it for the mini-boss fight, unless it's just a matter of 1-3 rounds or if you see the pod glowing red. Be careful with the saucers because they fire A LOT of shots at you. In the mini boss fight, make sure you get at least a vulcan-cannon combo, and hit the lower part of the boss. Be careful with the red trucks...when they fire at you with the huge laser, there's still a chance you may survive, so grab that chance and dodge the blue beam and the green lasers the boss will fire. In the boss fight, grab the grenade launcher before the fight and lob 'em at the boss. Be careful of the yoyos.
