Grandia was originally released for the Saturn and didn't make it out here in the states. Years later, it was released for the PlaySation.
STORYLINE
The game starts out with a young boy named Justin playing hide and go seek with his sister and some kids in the town's streets. Justin and his sister then goes on a boat ride to the journey of a lifetime, despite his mother's request not to. Justin wants to prove everybody that he is a great hero. In the boat, he meets up with Leena, a popular female pirate who is both strong and also kind of stuck up at first. These are the 3 main characters in the game, though you will find many more during the game. Storyline is definitely the game's strong point.
GRAPHICS
The game's graphics are kind of old by today's standards but the design of the towns, enemies and the characters themselves are nothing short of amazing. The designs are beleivable in this game's setting. Nothing more to say here.
SOUND
Great soundtrack. Each piece blends well with its setting. I also bought the 30 dollar soundtrack at ebay. The two best themes are "Edge of the world" and "Justin's theme". The intro music is also pretty good. Kind of a 70's, Galaxy Express 999 type music. The only thing bad about this game is the corny voice acting. They could not have done it worse.
GAMEPLAY
The gameplay is standard type in an RPG. You level up, buy weapons, and collect rare item. But it's also fun. The battle is turn based and the magic effects are great. I also like the fact that you can see the enemy on the battlefield, instead of random fighting like in the Final Fantasy series.
OVERALL
This is a great game with great gameplay. The storyline and soundtrack is just amazing. Buy this game before it gets impossible to find.
