Pros: Everything! 2 endings, 2 CDS, 2 Brothers, may the dominet one win
Cons: having to go back to find a sniper rifle to save Merly was hard enough...
With that being said, you should know this game is definitly worth the five stars, it came out oct 1998, and unleased a new kind of action game, thats steatlth, to this very day, many new comers copy its style, Splinter Cell and Syphon Filter are very good examples of this. Being that I beat this game many times in the past, i never quite, the controls are excellent and even better then the graphics which are state-of-the-art(back then they were), which changed the way the world has seen stealth games...of course this is one of the greatest games ever made, with more story then actual game that crosses 2 CDs, which i found unneccessary to switch disks its only two hours long (4 if you dont skip the talking).
The story is actually pretty strong unlike the sequel that will come in 2001, about Snake and Liquid brothers born from Big boss, of course Liquid is nothing more than a terriost who only wants to get his fathers remains which the government is holding, and coicenadently his own brother is sent to stop him, before he launches a nuclear warhead, times running out and its up to Snake to get the two passcode cards to deactivate the missile, too bad Liquid is much clever than that, and sets him up so he could "deactivate" it intentionally, cause he never actually had the codes and metal gear rex was deactivated all along. Of course one of the brothers will live, but which one, one is dominet and the other one is recessive, only one Snake will live.
With two endings, theres plenty of gameplay, a good and a bad ending were made, but the only part in the game that requires alot of effort is the shock therapy mini-game, by repeataly pressing the circle button can you really see what kind of man you are.
Inconclusion very few games have lived up to their hype/anticaption, but Metal Gear Solid certainly did, and it shows, others tried, even the flawed sequel to come, I also got the remastered Game Cube version of this game on preorder, so I cant wait to see whats changed and whats not, most likely the graphics, other then that all the dialog is there, but it was always a cinematic experience, that will never die.
