PolishFalcon's Full Review: Road Rash 3D for PlayStation 1
What a shock. I've always like the Road Rash games (especially on the Genesis), but this game is bad. Not bad=good, but bad=bad. It's not the worst game ever made, but it is the worst Road Rash game ever made.
Good things about this game: You can still club people upside their damn head with weaponry. Which is always a plus. It's kind of funny watching people getting clubbed repeatedly in a video game. The clubbing factor is a positive in this game.
Another plus is the upgrades you can get. Bike upgrades are always a good thing.
But the bad thing about the clubbing and upgrades, is that they are not original. Both of these things have always been in the RR games. Nothing different here.
Very minor things make this game bad. First off, the camera angles. There is no good camera view in this game. In all racing games I play, I try to get the camera view zoomed out as far as possible, so I can see as much as I possibly can. This game doesn't let me have that chance, and if you like doing what I do, you won't like your camera views.
Another minor thing is the "opponents". The people you race against seem to have unfair advantages all over the place.
No matter how far you are ahead of someone, if you eat it in a crash, no matter how bad, half the field of bikers will shoot ahead of you. Another negative is their clubbing power. You can bash the hell out of a racer up to 5 times, and they won't be KO'ed, but they can club you twice and you're down for the count. That's just not right.
This game isn't horrible, but it isn't the best thing going. If you have a Genesis, get it's Road Rash game.
If you can handle dis-advantages, and poor camera angles, then you might want this game.
