Theme Park was released for the Sony Playstation in late
1995, it is a playstation version of the PC classic of the same name. This
is a Sim City-like game in which you build you own theme park. As you probably guessed from the title of the game.
As the game is based around your park, the main screen consists of your rides, stalls, staff and of course the visitors. You can "try" some of the rides and when you do, you are treated to a nice little video clip of this boy and his dog on the ride. Which is amusing enough.
The graphics are bright, colorful and clear, but hardly push the machine to the limits of its ability. Remember, this game was made in 1995, so its one of those early Playstation games, so don't expect much from the graphics.
Lets just say they serve their purpose!
As you hover around the rides, there are little snippets of music suitable to that particular ride. For instance, if you hover over the ghost train you get a snippet of "spooky" music. Apart from that, the music is terrible, repetitive and
annoying, the same song plays throughout the game.
Where this game really falls down, is that it`s far too hard to master. Most people like games that have a pretty easy learning curve, so as to keep your interest as you progress through to the more challenging and difficult levels. Not so here, this game starts off hard and just gets harder! But the good thing about it is you can build your own theme park from the ground up, you can customize everything in it, from the number of employees to the salt content of the fries. You can also adjust ticket prices and salaries. You decide where to put the rides, the workers, the bathrooms, the arcades, to put it simply, you control where everything can go and what surrounds it. Otherwise it is incredibly hard to play.
I find this game excellent, but gameplay is the most important factor in any game, maybe more so in this one because of the lack of great visuals, in the end, the gameplay is what matters most.
