Pros: Fun, Nice sound aqnd GFX
Cons: Die to easy
Tomb Raider III by Eidos Interactive is a action packed game were you must survive animals, people, rocks, and poison arrows. You must also solve puzzles, find your way though mazes, and not fall on spikes to find whatever you were sent to find in the first place.
The story behind this game is that millions of years ago, a meteor crashed into the then warm climate of Antarctica. The first people to discover this land were a tribe of polynesians. Despite the now freezing conditions, a lot of life lived on Antarctica. The tribe worshiped the meteor crash site because of powers it appeared to hold. RX tech, a research company, picked up unusual readings from the meteor crash site. They found the body of Charles Darwin, a sailor on a voyage on a ship called the Beagle. Following a story in the sailors journal, RX tech have started to take a particular interest in, not only the crater area, buy the other parts of the world that sailors have traveled to and died in. One of those places is India where you start out. Then your adventure begins.
The graphics are very nice in this game. Its not eye candy like in the resident Evil games, but it is eye friendly. Your eyes wont hurt after a long play period like on some games. You can tell what everything is and things from far off look great. (water falls, cliffs, ect.) The GFX problem is when you get close to something you can see the same thing over and over again. (like on a rock wall you will see the same dark spots and markings.) Also the graphics engine can sometimes show you bad views so its hard to play. Sometimes when you are in a tight place you get a picture of Lara's chest so you cant do anything until you move.
The sound is really great. Birds, water, fire, animals, and even Lara all have great sounds that you hear. You can hear your foot steps, when you pull a rock cube she makes a hmph noise. The sound really adds a lot of value to this game.
The control is easy to get used to, but sometimes it is a little hard to get Lara to do what you want her to. If you are high up on a cliff and you make a mistake of not hitting the grab button at just the right moment you fall to your death. When you run a walk you have problems getting her to stand in a particular spot. Other than that it was easy to learn and easy to use.
The fun level is not as high as on the other Tomb Raiders. You might jump in a hole and land on spikes. How fun is that. But the adventure is still there. Even if you have to start over a lot because you jump in a hole or fall to your death it is still fun. It takes longer, but fun none the least.
